    Creepy, crawly, crunchy critters

    http://media.booeep.com/26150_image_466_preview_medium/1305751717

A cup of crickets contains only 250 calories and six grams of fat.  Crickets are also rich in calcium and protein, according to world-renowned bug chef David George Gordon, who warned the crowd surrounding the bug cook-off stage at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum's Bug Fair this past Saturday, "if you're watching your fingernails break, you're not eating enough crickets."

With special guests Cole and Dylan Sprouse, it was a gala event, with endless kiosks selling bug-related merchandise and the ever-popular permanent exhibit The Butterfly Pavilion, the Bug Fair had much to offer.

The Natural History Museum's grounds were swarming with children of every age, many with uniform t-shirts indicating they were on school field trips.  But despite the many schoolchildren, there were still many children accompanied by their bug-loving parents, and both parties were equally enthused by the plethora of creepy-crawlers.  http://media.booeep.com/26150_image_467_preview_medium/1305752446

Other parents, who may not have been quite as mesmerized by millipedes, larvae, or tarantulas, could be found circling the countless vendors scattered about the first floor of the museum, taking up the interiors of the African Mammal Hall and the North American Mammal Hall.  Many vendors sold pinned and cased exotic bugs as collector's items, with beautiful iridescent wings, exoskeletons, or complex mimicry-inspired patterns.

Those involved in the coordination of the Bug Fair all displayed equal enthusiasm for it.  This year was the Bug Fair's 25th anniversary and one of it's most popular yet.  Boasting events like cockroach racing, bug face painting, bug pinning, insect origami with Robert Land, and insect art by Steven Kutcher, it was natural for curators and museum employees to be proud.

http://media.booeep.com/26150_image_476_preview_medium/1305752444The Butterfly Pavilion remained busy all day, being one of the most popular attractions of the day despite its permanent residence at the Natural History Museum.  Waiting patiently in line with his baby brother Ariel, six year-old Nathaniel expressed interest in the herbs growing alongside the path to the Butterfly Pavilion's entrance.

"Rosemary, daddy! Can I eat it?" Nathaniel excitedly asked.  With an approving nod from his dad, he began to chew on a small sprig of the pungent herb, and his face showed almost immediate regret.  As his younger brother prodded a pillbug, or rolly poly as they are colloquially referred to, their father suggested they feed the rolly poly to the butterflies once they get inside.  "But DAD," Nathaniel emphatically remarked, "they ONLY eat nectar!"

The Butterfly Pavilion, according to promotional material provided by the museum, is "Home to over 55 species of butterflies and moths from all over North America." The Butterfly Pavilion is a secluded and beautiful environment to observe some of nature's prettiest creations up close and personal. http://media.booeep.com/26150_image_474_preview_medium/1305752442

Ironically enough, the Bug Fair was sponsored by the Western Exterminator Company, a pest control service based in Anaheim, Calif.

The outdoor cook-off was one of the most popular events, partly because of its Disney Channel hosts, and also because one cannot deny the appeal of watching people consume bugs. Featuring four different chefs, David George Gordon, Zack Lemann, Daniella Martin and David Gracer, the bug cook-off led to the creation of dishes like a "Bee-L-T sandwiches" and niblets and crickets.  While they may not have looked appealing to eat, according to adolescent taste-testers they were "GREAT!"

Zack, Cody are saying goodbye to Suite Life

    http://media.arkansasonline.com/img/photos/2011/05/05/120587_D_0316_t598.jpg?b7052f07a6139e7088ebc43100469802b2560d37

Disney’s Channel’s The Suite Life on Deck, starring Dylan and Cole Sprouse, wraps things up at 7 p.m. Friday. It’ll be a special 40-minute episode.

The Sprouse twins have starred as Zack and Cody Martin ever since they were 12 in 2005, when The Suite Life of Zack & Cody debuted on Disney.

They transitioned to The Suite Life on Deck in 2008 and sailed on to set a record. With 162 half-hour episodes between the two series, the franchise holds the record for having the longest running continuous characters on air and the most episodes in Disney Channel history.

Well, the boys are 18 now and that’s getting long in the tooth for a Disney child star. It’s time to wish ’em good luck and cut ’em loose.

In the final episode, “Graduation on Deck,” Cody and Bailey (Debby Ryan) grapple with the crushing fact that one of them does not get accepted to Yale University. Also, Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis) makes a life-changing decision involving Ms. Tuttweiler (Erin Cardillo).

Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse The Suite Life on Deck Graduation on Deck

The time has sadly come, and soon, we'll get to see how the series finale of The Suite Life On Deck ends....

As they say, all good voyages must come to an end, but for Seven Seas High School students Zack (Dylan Sprouse), Cody (Cole Sprouse), London (Brenda Song), Bailey (Debby Ryan) and Woody (Matthew Timmons), graduation comes sooner than they expect, and with a lot of baggage! in the momentous series finale.

In “Graduation on Deck,” Cody and Bailey grapple with the crushing fact that one of them does not get accepted to Yale. Also, Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis) makes a life changing decision involving Ms. Tuttweiler.

The show premieres on FRIDAY, MAY 6 (8:00-8:40 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.  Immediately following is a special preview of the new comedy series “A.N.T. Farm,” which revolves around Chyna Parks, an 11-year-old musical prodigy who attends high school as part of the prestigious A.N.T. (Advanced Natural Talents) program!

'The Suite Life Movie' on Disney was Friday's most-watched scripted TV show

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.a/6a00d8341c630a53ef014e602e7762970c-320wiDisney Channel dialed up some suite ratings with Friday's made-for-TV film "The Suite Life Movie."

The movie - starring Dylan and Cole Sprouse as teen twins with eventful lives and based on Disney's hit series "The Suite Life with Zack and Cody" - pulled in 5.2 million total viewers, according to the Nielsen Co., which made it Friday's top scripted program across all TV.

By comparison, Fox's sci-fi drama "Fringe" - which just got renewed for another season - delivered just 3.9 million. (CBS won the night with NCAA basketball, which averaged 8 million.)

"Suite Life" is the year's top movie in kid demos. The market for tween movies is getting increasingly competitive: Last year, Nickelodeon drew 7.6 million with its "Fred: the Movie," starring helium-voiced clown Fred Figglehorn (Lucas Cruikshank).

Cole Sprouse: Two New 'Suite Life Movie' Clips!!!

Cole Sprouse: Two New 'Suite Life Movie' Clips!!!

Only TWO more days until The Suite Life Movie premieres!!!

JJJ sat down with Cole Sprouse on the set earlier this year and chatted with him about putting on his producer hat, the challenges Cody will face and what he really wanted to see happen in the movie. Check it:

On the series finally getting a movie: “The thing about that is that we really haven’t been itching to get a movie out of the series. We didn’t expect it to come anytime soon since we were so involved in the show. But I know they [the writers and everyone else] have been wanted to shoot a movie and it was just a matter of time. I, personally, wanted to see the cast more together in the film because right now it’s just Dylan and I and it’s lonely in Vancouver (laughs). I wanted a bit more scenes with everyone…but that’s okay. We’ll get them. It’s actually kind of fun by ourselves for a little while.”

On the challenges Cody has to face: “Dealing with Zack is his main thing. The strain between Zack and Cody is huge and you definitely get to see how both of them deal with it and finding a common ground in the middle.”

On his executive producer role: “It’s great. Dylan and I know exactly what we want and know how the characters are. People do trust us with the skill. It’s all about trust in that role. Cast and crew will come to use creatively to ask about lines and that kind of thing. We definitely put a lot of effort and creativity into it.”

On the theme of the movie: “The theme of the movie that Dylan and I really want is lighthearted-ness. We don’t want it dramatic at all. That’s not how On Deck or Zack and Cody ever played. We want it light and funny, nothing too serious and that’s they way it’s going so far. There are some definitely action sequences that you’ll get to see.”

Click here to see the new photo gallery!

More clips and interviews still to come! The Suite Life Movie premieres THIS Friday, March 25 @ 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.

KCA 2011: Cole Sprouse vs. Dylan Sprouse

Aside from both being up for Favorite TV Actor KCAs and looking a LOT alike, the Kids' Choice Award nominated Sprouse twins have a ton in common, but they also have a few differences that you might not know about!

Did you know that Cole was named after singer and pianist Nat King Cole and Dylan was named after the famous poet Dylan Thomas? Cole is considered to be the more outgoing brother of the two, and Dylan is more laid back. Cole started writing in a journal every day and convinced Dylan to do the same. (Wish we could take a peek inside those pages!) And Cole is the younger of the twins by 15 minutes and says that Dylan brings it up every single day. Ha!

So...The question is, are you on Team Cole or Team Dylan? Are you going to choose a side? Vote Cole Sprouse or vote Dylan Sprouse right here!

KCA Throwback: Dylan and Cole Sprouse Are KCA Cuties!

Kids' Choice Award nominees Cole Sprouse and Dylan Sprouse have literally grown up before our eyes on TV and in movies, but when we look at this photo of them from way back in the day, we can hardly believe our eyes! Look at how little they are!

    sprouse brothers kca

The Sprouse twins spent their childhood on the small screen, appearing in Grace Under Fire when they were 1 year old. Seriously! They got their big break in '99 starring alongside Adam Sandler in Big Daddy when they were just 7 years old. We were in diapers and these guys were in Hollywood! But that's what we love about them -- these KCA nominees are living The Suite Life!
